The font cover was commissioned by Barbara McGowan in memory of Anne Esme Eva Briggs who was born in the parish. It was made in oak by Dan Windham in 2014. The church is famous for its magnificent fourteenth-century reredos which it is thought to have come from the Dominican priory at Thetford. But the building is relatively small. The modest font is sits under an early nineteenth-century west gallery where space is confined and headroom restricted. The cover is therefore low in profile and its design is intended to be sympathetic both to the gallery front and to the medieval font. The dimensions are generated from the geometry of the font, notably the lozenge grid on the east and west faces.
